Who We Are

Originated in Denver Colorado, our independently owned design consultation studio focuses on the comfort, health, and happiness of our clients. With professional educational degrees in psychology, sculpture, and architecture our designs seek to connect people while speaking to their individuality.

Senses Designs is currently independently owned and operated by Pauline (Paul) Gerd, an individual architectural designer who recently graduated with degrees in Architecture, Sculptural Studio Arts, Psychology, and Art History from the University of Colorado Boulder and the University of Michigan Taubman College in Ann Arbor. Senses Designs LLC was created to share and build upon the knowledge accumulated within these educational opportunities. Senses Designs hopes to meld the scientific research of these educational topics, which operate mainly disconnected from one another today. The design concepts hope to connect recent research within psychology to our formed architectural spaces; with the intention to be more in touch with our senses, each other, as well as the natural environment.

The designed spaces integrate research and knowledge of architecture, sustainability, sculpture, and psychology. Utilizing all of these passions as a part of the design process not only helps form healthier spaces, but it also supports making connections with one another and with our own bodies or physiology. These designs aspire to connect recent research to create new approaches which consider our humanity and how we evolve with everything we sense around us.

Our designs hope to make a difference by helping to create a more inclusive, sustainable, and connected world for all of us to share in the future.

Be apart of this future today and collaborate with us on your designs!

she/her/hers

Hello! I am a recent graduate from the Master’s of Architecture 3-year program at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. I have additional bachelor degrees from the University of Colorado Boulder in Psychology, Studio Arts with an emphasis in Sculpture, and a minor in Art History.

Recent professional experiences include opportunities as a research Assistant at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research, a CNC and Waterjet Fabrication Lab Assistant at UM, and a Metal Shop Business Administrator. As an architectural designer I hope to combine my interests in psychology, sculpture, fabrication and architecture. I hope to explore these topics further through environmental sustainability, supporting inclusive diverse communities, and equitably forming spaces to be considerate of our humanity or individual neurodiversity.
